Instead, a list of Sanosuke's abilities, skills, and other techniques that aid him in battle will be noted here instead:
Zanbatou
The "Horse-Chopping Sword", due to the fact that it's big enough to chop a horse in half in one swing.^^ Sanosuke only uses this once, at the start of the Rurouni Kenshin series when he fights Kenshin Himura for the first time. Because Sanosuke is naturally strong, he is able to lift the sword easily, but although one blow from the sword is guaranteed to be fatal, it's too slow to move and provide a counterattack if the initial offense failed. Keshin was able to defeat Sanosuke easily because of this, and from then on, Sanosuke decided to stop using this sword and rely on his fists instead.Strength
Sanosuke has amazing strength; when we first see him fighting some thugs outside the Akabeko, his opponents' hands practically break when coming into contact with him, and he can throw a normal bad guy half a mile away by flicking his thumb and index finger against his enemy's forehead. It is because of this strength that he has been able to make his Futae no Kiwami technique much more lethal.Endurance and aptitude
Sanosuke can withstand most anything. He can dive right through fire and brush it off despite getting scorched, and he can get beaten up by people stronger than he is and still remain standing. He can also learn a new ability very quickly, and make his own variations of it. This is how he was able to learn the Futae no Kiwami technique from Anzi and defeat him with it later on. He always comes out of every battle stronger than before, and tricks don't work on him twice. Futae no Kiwami
: Or, "TwoFold / Double Extremity Attack". Sanosuke learns this during the Tokyo arc from the monk Yuukyuuzan Anji, and requires a combination of strength and some subte finesse:
Step one: Hit the target with your middle knuckles (the bone midway between the tip and base of your finger). This breaks down the target object's resistance and make it susceptible for the next attack.
Step two: Hit the target again with your knuckles (bone at the base of your fingers) with enough strength and speed to destroy it completely. This step must be done within a few instances of the first step to be successful.
How to block the Futae no Kiwami: Use enough force to directly hit the the opponent's Futae no Kiwami attack. This will lessen the total force exerted against you.
It normally takes a month for any beginner to master Futae no Kiwami. Sanosuke was able to do it within a wekk, almost at the cost of his life. However, Sanosuke can only perform the Futae no Kiwami with his fists; other higher level masters like Anji can perform Futae no Kiwami with a weapon or with almost every other part of his body.
Sanjuu no Kiwami
Or, "Threefold / Triple Extremity Attack". This technique is an adaptation of the Futae no Kiwami which Sanosuke discovers. When two opponents attack each other using the Futae no Kiwami, the force being exerted renders their punches almost at an equilibrium. You can gain the upper hand here by opening your fist, which would cause the force of your opponent's Futae no Kiwami to be reflected back at him.
