Appearance
Sanosuke is fairly tall, towering over most people in the series, with long spiky black hair tinged with brown highlights, and brown eyes. He's fond of wearing white pants and a long unbuttoned coat with 'aku' inscribed at the back, which means 'bad' or 'evil'. Under the coat, his midsection is usually bandaged; not because he's injured, but possibly to blunt some of the blows he'd receive in that area, and probably because he doesn't want to show TOO much of his chest *g*. His forearms are bandaged for the same reason. He wears a red bandanna, and its excess ribbons trails down his shoulders behind him. He chews on fishbones or pieces of straw in most idle moments, which is often.
Brief History
Sanosuke is one of the only two survivors of the Sekihoutai, a group led by Souzo Sagara that had been massacred by the Isshin Shishi for being traitors. This was a lie; the Sekihoutai supported the Isshin Shishi, and according to their wishes, told the people that the price of rice would be cut short if they won the war. The Isshin Shishi won the war and became the new government, but couldn't keep their promise. Instead, they said the Sekihoutai lied and branded them as traitors. Bitter and angry at the new government, Sanosuke takes on the Sagara last name as his own and at the start of the Rurouni Kenshin series, plans to take revenge.
